Factorise numerator

3a2 - 24a + 48

P = 144; S = -24; N = -12, -12

(3a2 - 12a) - (12a + 48)

3a(a - 4) -(12a + 48)

3a(a - 4) -12(a - 4)

(3a - 12)(a - 4)

combining the numerator

and denominator gives

= $\frac{3(a-4)(a+4)}{(3a-12)(a-4)}$

= $\frac{3(a-4)(a+4)}{3(a-4)(a-4)}$

= $\frac{(a+4)}{(a-4)}$
